Scaly-Breasted Munia



Although these birds are quite common, we have only seen them twice. They’re really tiny and cute!

Description: The Scaly-Breasted Munia (Lonchura punctulata) is among the most common munias found in Singapore. It can be found in grasslands. These munias have dull-blueish beaks, brown bodies, and scaly patterned breasts, hence their names.

Status: Common resident breeder

Diet: Seeds, berries

We spotted three of them this time! Their little blue beaks are really unique and cute 🙂

Our first sighting of this bird! We first saw them hopping and flitting around some of the potted plants near the swimming pool.



The two of them were buzzing around and doing cute poses :3



Look how small the bird is compared to the potted plant!
