Scaly-Breasted Munia

Although these birds are quite common, we have only seen them twice. They’re really tiny and cute!

Description: The Scaly-Breasted Munia (Lonchura punctulata) is among the most common munias found in Singapore. It can be found in grasslands. These munias have dull-blueish beaks, brown bodies, and scaly patterned breasts, hence their names.

Status: Common resident breeder

Diet: Seeds, berries

Our first sighting of this bird! We first saw them hopping and flitting around some of the potted plants near the swimming pool.
