Common Kingfisher looking forward

On the first day of 2016, we feature a photograph of a chance encounter by the lake at the Chinese Gardens. Just like meeting this delightful bird, we hope that the new year will be filled with colourful surprises and unexpected discoveries 🙂

Wow, we didn’t know it was a female! We googled and found out that females have red lower beak mandibles. Thanks for the info 🙂

Beautiful! I also “met” my first (female!) kingfisher on the 2nd day of January 🙂 It was very exciting.
