Imagine – what the world today can learn from the birds

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

We have all heard the song Imagine by John Lennon in some form or other. Even though almost 50 years have passed since it was first released in 1971, it has been kept alive as  a response to tragedy. Recently, after the Paris attacks, a German pianist, David Martello, brought his grand piano to the Bataclan theatre and played this song as a tribute to the victims of the tragedy.

Inspired by his encouraging action as well as hope presented by the song, we decided to post some cute photos of birds, captioned with a little poem by us, that show how we have a lot left to learn.

When will we at last realise

That no matter our shape or size

It actually doesn’t at all matter

Whether you’re skinnier or fatter.

After all, we’re not far away

From each other, in so many ways.

In every daily cleaning, preening routine

With others, we’re not afraid of being openly seen.

We eat from the same branch, the same tree

Sometimes we just sit together; company is free.

We may have our differences, in colour and frame

But I’ll come if something happens, and you’ll do the same.

We cannot coexist with distrust

Accepting each other is a must.

We each have a beak, wings and feathers

Our situations just bring us closer together.

Finally, have another sneak peek at our upcoming post on the Galapagos Islands. See if you can count how many species there are in the below picture!
